Key Takeaways

  • OLAPLEX has released The Key to Shine Set, which pairs three mini N°.7 Bonding Oils with an exclusive keychain holder.

  • Each bottle holds 7.5ml of the styling oil, which offers heat protection up to 232°C and promises 72 hours of frizz control.

  • The limited edition set costs $30 on the OLAPLEX US site, £28 at Lookfantastic in the UK and $44 CAD at Sephora Canada.

  • It is also stocked by Ulta Beauty and is being sold as a holiday gift and stocking filler.

Hair oil usually lives at the back of the bathroom shelf, which is not much help when the humidity hits halfway through the day. OLAPLEX has decided the answer is to put it on your bag. The haircare brand's new Key to Shine Set bundles three travel sized bottles of its N°.7 Bonding Oil with an exclusive keychain holder that clips onto a handbag or backpack, so the oil travels with you in plain sight. The set was picked up by Trend Hunter this week as an example of what it calls clip on beauty and accessory led packaging, and it lands in time for holiday gifting.

The Key to Shine Set contains three 7.5ml bottles of N°.7 Bonding Oil and one keychain designed to hold them. OLAPLEX lists it at $30 on its US site against a stated value of $39, while Lookfantastic sells it in the UK for £28 (worth £36) and Sephora Canada has it at $44 CAD against a value of $57. Trend Hunter reports that the set is available at Ulta Beauty, and both OLAPLEX and Sephora describe it as limited edition, with Sephora pitching it as a stocking stuffer.

The format, follows a trend Glossy tracked in detail earlier this year. Its report in March pointed to Rhode's Lip Case in 2024 as an early example of beauty products doubling as accessories, followed by Cocokind's Ceramide Lip Blur Balm, which launched in March 2025 with a built in ring for hanging it from a keychain or bag. Laneige added a limited edition Lip Tint Wristlet and Keychain for $20 at Sephora in February, and Touchland's hand sanitiser cases with Crocs Jibbitz charms sold out within a day. Haircare has joined in as well, with Odele working with designer Susan Alexandra on a charm holder for its dry shampoo. Glossy also cited New York Times reporting that Anthropologie sold more than 10,000 bag charms between August and October 2024.
