Pinterest and Barbie launch DreamHouse room makeovers in Restyle with a pink Barbie is Moving truck touring US cities

Key Takeaways
Pinterest and Mattel have launched a limited-time Barbie experience inside Restyle, Pinterest's AI photo editing tool, to celebrate the new Barbie DreamHouse.
Users upload a photo of their own room and choose one of five DreamHouse style edits, from mid-century Americana and chalet chic to superstar glam, Victorian romance and modern coastal.
Restyle is in beta for eligible English-language Pinners aged 18 and over on iOS in the US and Canada.
A custom-pink, 26-foot Barbie is Moving truck is visiting New York City, Dallas and Los Angeles from October through November, with live Restyle demos and giveaways.
Plenty of us have scrolled through pink interiors on Pinterest and wondered what our own living room would look like with a little more DreamHouse in it. Pinterest and Barbie are now offering a shortcut, with a new experience that lets people photograph a room and see it reimagined in the style of the latest Barbie DreamHouse.
The partnership between Pinterest and Mattel sits inside Restyle, the AI editing tool Pinterest previewed in beta in September, and it arrives alongside a custom-pink moving truck that is currently driving Barbie's house move around three American cities. Behind it is a set of Pinterest search figures suggesting that a good number of adults would quite like to live in a DreamHouse themselves.
Pinterest and Mattel add five Barbie DreamHouse style edits to Restyle for US and Canadian Pinners

The Barbie experience runs for a limited time within Restyle and is powered by Pinterest Intelligence. Pinners can find it through official Barbie content, selected search terms and curated boards on the Barbie Pinterest profile. Once inside, they upload a photo of a room and pick one of five signature DreamHouse looks, which are mid-century Americana, chalet chic, superstar glam, Victorian romance and modern coastal. From there they can add or swap décor using what Pinterest calls Barbie-approved finds, so the restyled room comes with products that can be shopped. People can take or upload a photo of a room, a piece of furniture or a décor item, then add an object, change an item, erase something they would rather not see, or edit the whole scene with a text prompt. The tool is in beta for eligible English-language Pinners aged 18 and over, and is available on iOS in the United States and Canada.
The online experience has a physical counterpart in the official Barbie is Moving truck. The custom-pink, 26-foot vehicle is touring from October through November, with stops in New York City, Dallas and Los Angeles. Visitors can try Restyle live, explore interactive elements, take photos and enter giveaways, with Pinterest noting that prizes vary and are handed out at random while supplies last.
Sara Pollack, VP, global head of consumer marketing at Pinterest, said, "People come to Pinterest to discover ideas and make them their own." Mahta Eghbali, VP, strategic partnerships and alliances at Mattel, described Barbie as a brand that "has remained a cultural force for more than six decades", adding that the partnership with Pinterest extends that inspiration beyond play, "giving fans new ways to discover DreamHouse ideas".
Pinterest searches for Barbie DreamHouse aesthetic are up 72% as Mattel moves Barbie into a new home
Pinterest has backed the launch with its own search data, which points to a wider appetite for pink interiors. Searches for "Barbie DreamHouse aesthetic" are up 72%, while "pink apartment ideas" has risen 224% and "pink whimsy wallpaper" has climbed 562%. Smaller details are growing too, with pink wall décor, pink rugs, pink mirror frames and pink lighting all showing increases. Taken together, the figures suggest people are looking for pink pieces they can bring into real homes as well as admiring finished DreamHouse rooms.
The collaboration also slots into Mattel's wider Barbie is Moving story for the new DreamHouse, which Mattel describes as its first ever customisable DreamHouse, with two houses, two pools and two slides. In the UK, Barbie went house hunting with Rightmove in July this year, as Mattel announced the 2026 DreamHouse would appear as a listing on the property platform and ran a DreamHouse estate agent pop-up in London's Covent Garden from 24 to 26 July. The Pinterest partnership takes that moving theme a step further by letting fans try the DreamHouse look in the rooms they already live in.
For Pinterest, the timing follows the September preview of Restyle at its Pinterest Presents event, where TechCrunch reported the feature would let people redesign a room by adding or swapping furniture, wall art, lighting and plants. Pinterest has made it a bit of a habit to turn what its users search for into brand partnerships, as seen when Pinterest and Chamberlain Coffee built a Wilderkind collection from a Pinterest Predicts trend, with Emma Chamberlain's own boards shaping the flavours and merchandise. Here a familiar character and a decades old toy house give the AI tool an instantly recognisable set of styles to try.
