Veuve Clicquot has always sold sunshine in a bottle. On Venice Beach, it took the more direct route and simply moved in next to the real thing.

Club Solaire, Veuve Clicquot's three-day pop-up on the Venice boardwalk, opened with a VIP evening attended by Charlize Theron, Grace Van Patten and Este Haim, then threw its doors open to the public. What sets it apart from the usual champagne party is that most of the programme was built with local food and creative talent, and the free side of the venue sat right on one of the busiest public walkways in Los Angeles.

The two-storey venue at 619 Ocean Front Walk was dressed with communal tables, flowers, candles and sculptural pendant lights in Veuve Clicquot yellow. The VIP opening on Thursday 1 October drew Theron, Van Patten, True Whitaker, Christina Hendricks, Arden Cho and Ashley Madekwe, with Este Haim on the decks as the sun went down. Theron told WWD: "Anything that encourages and celebrates getting community together right now is important, and I think that's really what tonight is about."

From 2 to 4 October, Club Solaire hosted six ticketed experiences, sold through Universe. They ranged from The Morning Mix breakfast with a curated playlist and The Shared Table open-kitchen lunch to The Sunset Dinner, a four-course meal, The Maker's Brunch with a beading workshop, The House Party across several rooms, and The Sun-Day Reset breakfast overlooking the ocean. Hosts included Folderol founder Jessica Yang, Michelin-starred chef Jordan Kahn, chef and music curator Heather Tierney, jewellery designer Ashley Moubayed, photographer Sela Shiloni and James Beard Award-nominated chef Fátima Juárez.

The boardwalk side was free from 12pm to 6pm for over-21s. It included the Regarding Her Champagne Bar, with proceeds going to the nonprofit supporting women leaders in food and drink, Folderol's first US soft-serve parlour with Yellow Label-inspired flavours, a Veuve Clicquot concept store and a Yellow Rental Shop for bicycles. The Los Angeles Parks Foundation was also a partner.
